Tomorrow is the big day. I am in Grande Prairie right now. Enjoying the prairie sunsets, big muddy trucks and chill'n with Shaun. I just looked at my passport for the 100th time. I look like a serial killer in my picture...they should let you smile. I took it to the extreme and scowled at the camera. Nice one Thompson....oh well I'll smile in the rest of my Dubai pictures.

I am flying back to Vancouver at 7am, hanging out in the airport until 7pm and flying on British Airways to London. I only have one hour to catch my flight to Dubai. Poor planning? Maybe just life on the edge. How big is this "London airport" anyway?

Maria sent me a list of things to do while in Dubia....here's partial look at my to do list for the next month.

1. Check out the Grand Hyatt Hotel, it has an underwater lobby
2. The Gold Souk, it’s a market that sells gold. I guess its cheap but I’ve been told women need an escort so I’ll drag my Dad along.
3. Cruise on a dhow, a traditional wooden boat.
4. Check out the Mall of the Emirates, it’s the one with the indoor ski hill
5. Read on the beach
6. The Dubai museum
7. Hatta, the only mountain area in the country
8. Al Mallah restaurant on Al Diayafah Street, apparently the best “shawarma” in town. (I have no idea what it is but what the heck)

This is Joffre Lakes...this is where I am... this is home. 12 days, 11 more sleeps, and one more work week before Dubai. Reading travel advice and collecting books to read in a sand swept world. God teach me something new.
